Round Drippy Soda Fired Mug

Description

This big round mug shows off the beauty of soda firing with dramatic glossy glaze drips where it was hit with soda, and a quiet side. It has a classic comforting shape, and holds 450mL which I find ideal for a large brew of tea at the start of a work day. The liner glaze is Neils Smooth, and it has grown some lovely speckled crystals due to the slow cool when we fired it. The outer is both soda iridescent slip, and unslipped/unglazed Macs Mud buff stoneware. The glaze drips are caused by the Neils Smooth glaze on the rim melting with the soda application and running into the iridescent slip.

Like all my mugs this is food safe, dishwasher safe and made of NZ clay. It was soda fired in reduction to cone 10. It is 9cm tall.
