Blue-Grey Tall Mug

Description

This tall mug was thrown on the wheel from NZ clay – Macs Mud buff stoneware. I added a small feature (indent) to the belly with a shell. The glaze is Neils Smooth for the inner surface and rim, and on the outside a calcium based glaze with cobalt, manganese and nickel which has dripped beautifully over the clay body where it was hit with soda. I really love how this glaze has flowed down the handle, and how its drips are a soft blue/grey, green and buff.

Like all my mugs this one is food safe and dishwasher safe. It was fired to cone 10 in reduction with soda. It is 11cm high and holds 250mL. This classic ‘ship’ shape will keep your beverage warm for longer on a cold morning.
