Blue Soda Fired Mug

Description

This delicate mug is made of New Zealand clay (Macs Mud Classic White). It was thrown and altered with faceting and indenting on the wheel. It has been soda fired to cone 10 in the Otago Potter Groups Kiln ‘Josephine’.

The inner glaze is Neils Smooth, and the outer glaze is a dark blue nickel glaze which flashes where it has been hit with soda. There is some lovely pink crystal growth which occurred due to a hold at the top temperature and a slow cool. It is 7.5cm tall, and holds 230mL. This unique mug is the perfect size for a strong morning coffee.
