Small Beaker

I enjoy sipping port out of similar beakers I made this year, but my two year old informs me that they are definitely fluffy mugs! So either way, treat yourself to a little tipple, or treat your tot to a fluffy. This beaker has a thumb grip feature which was made with the corner of a batter pat. It has been glazed with tenmoku to the inner surface and the rim. Lower down there is a band of speckled glaze which has melted into the tenmoku at the top, and dripped downwards where it was hit by soda. This mug is made of NZ clay, Macs Mud buff stoneware. It was soda fired in reduction to cone 10 in ‘Josephine’ – the kiln at the Otago Potters Group.

This mug is 6cm tall, and holds 80mL.
