Description
This mug is one of my favourite creations this year. It was faceted on the wheel with two different wires, and then thrown more to form the twists. The inner glaze is tenmoku and the outer glaze on the rim and handle is soda iridescent. There are some gorgeous drips that follow the facets. The body of the mug is glazed by the interaction of soda with the clay body. In this mug I used a blend of two NZ clays from Macs Mud – they are speckled buff and classic white. This has resulted in a pretty grey where it was hit with soda, and a toasty brown where it was more sheltered, and of course there are the speckles…
Like all my mugs it is food safe and dishwasher safe. This mug is 7cm high and holds 200mL. Enjoy sipping your favourite beverage from this wee one, and cradling the soda fired beauty.
